The Survival Bag

"Any Ditch will do"

This product has been devised as a first response device for individuals and families in refugee camps, during civil emergencies or in remote locations.

The Survival Bag is capable of treating 9000 litres of microbiologically contaminated water to provide clean clear safeguarded water for use.

World Wide Water Ltd is fortunate to have been granted the right to use this innovative technology by Water Security Corporation. MCV® and Iodosorb® are Space Certified Technologies and Water Security Corporation is a member of the Space Technology Hall of Fame.

The major components of the technology are MCV® and Iodosorb®, the iodinated resin and iodine scrubber technologies.

Water Security Corporation www.watseco.com is commercializing the water purification technology package originally developed for use in the NASA Manned Space Program. The technology utilizes a proprietary iodinated resin and iodine scrubber to effectively kill pathogenic organisms, such as bacteria and viruses. This technology has been used for water purification on all Space Shuttles and is being incorporated into a water recycling system for the International Space Station.

The water passes through a 1-micron cloth filter bag within the PVC outer bag.
This inner cloth filter bag can be withdrawn from the outer bag and rinsed clean of accumulated organic matter to prolong the life of the unit.
The cleaner water then passes through an in-line cartridge that contains;

  1. Granular Activated Carbon – to reduce pesticides, herbicides and organic matter.
  2. MCV® * – an Iodinated resin developed for and used by NASA for the Space Platform.
  3. Iodosorb® * – iodine scavenging resin to remove iodine from the treated water.
  4. Carbon/KDF to remove last vestige of taste and odour and reduce heavy metals.

Survival criteria are 2 litres of water per person per day although 5 litres is more ideal.

  • The Survival Bag is gravity fed with the capacity to purify 15 litres every hour.
  • The in-line cartridge has an estimated capacity of 9000 litres.
  • One in-line cartridge fitted to the Survival Bag can supply 5 litres per day for 10 people for approximately 180 days.

Each Survival Bag is packaged inside a strong plastic tube that serves 2 purposes;

  1. Protects the device from damage between uses in adverse conditions.
  2. The cap can be used as a cup to receive the treated water and the larger tube as a container to bring water from a ditch, spring, stream or river, to the Survival Bag for purification.
